Living With Newly Diagnosed Hepatitis C

Because hepatitis C can take years, if not decades, to develop, your thoughts should not be about dying from the disease, but rather about living with it. Some are extremely slow to develop serious liver disease or damage, while others will progress more rapidly. A hepatitis C diagnosis can be most unsettling until you can establish how rapidly you are responding to the virus. Finding a support network of physicians, family members or close friends can help you through the feelings you get from a new diagnosis. Support groups exist in many communities, as well as on the Internet. Above all, remain calm. There is a great deal of international research. Researchers soon hope to find better treatments that minimize liver damage, prolong life, and ultimately, find a cure.
